MyMagic+ Frequently Asked Questions
FastPass+ and MyMagic+ is the new system that is operating within the Walt Disney World Resort. Here is a quick FAQ with regards to this new next generation system. Please be aware that all information provided below is subject to change, although Disney Magic will try to keep this page as up-to-date as possible. It is very important for park guests to know about the MyMagic+ and FastPass+ system in order to get the full Disney World experience! What is MyMagic+? The MyMagic+ system is Disney's new system for guests, which is primarily based around an app and website known as My Disney Experience. This site and app enables guests to organise various aspects of their vacation and also therefore stores all relevant/required information about each guest, including that for park admission.
What is FastPass+? FastPass+ is a new technology with regards to digital ride reservation. It essentially enables you to ride the attractions you want, with little queue. You are technically reserving your place at the front of the line. Disney resort guests can reserve FastPass+ reservations 60 days before a trip, whereas off-site guests and Annual Passholders can reserve 30 days in advance. There are certain limitations to FastPass+ selections available, with Epcot and Hollywood Studios currently operating a tiered system. How many FastPass+ reservations am I allowed? Guests are currently only allowed to make 3 FastPass+ selections in advance per day, per guest. Although, guests can now use a fourth rolling FastPass+, available once the guest has used all 3 advance reservations. This must currently be done at an in-park kiosk, although can be edited using the My Disney Experience app/website. Can I park hop? FastPass+ now allows park hopping. But, you can only use your extra rolling 4th FastPass+ reservation in a second park - i.e. you cannot park hop during your 3 original reservations (your pre-booked FP+'s) but can after you have used these three... How much does FastPass+ cost? FastPass+ is included in standard park admission. Guests staying in a Disney Resort hotel will receive a MagicBand, whereas guests staying off-site will receive an RFID enabled card. Although, if off-site guests want to use MagicBands, these will cost $12.95 + tax for standard coloured bands. Printed MagicBand's will cost more. Please see the MagicBand Questions page for more information about them... If I do not make FP+ reservations in advance, will I still be able to ride my favourite rides? Yes, all rides will still offer a standby line, along with in-park kiosks for you to make FP+ reservations and amendments when in the park. Pre-booking your FastPass+ reservations is strongly advised to avoid disappointment. How long is the FP+ return window? As with Legacy FP, the return window is 60 minutes long. Disney offers a grace period of 5 minutes before, and 15 minutes after, you allotted return time. But, guests are advised against relying on this grace period. Can my FP+ reservations overlap? FastPass+ reservation return times cannot overlap. For example; you cannot have a reservation for Splash Mountain with a return time between 10:00am and 11:00am, and another reservation for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with a return time between 10:30am and 11:30am. Can I select different FP+ selections for different members of my party? Yes! Disney allows you to select different reservations for each member of your party. For example, if certain members of your group do not wish to ride certain attractions, they are more than welcome to have another FastPass+ reservation in its place. How does ‘Rider Swap’ work with FP+? Rider Swap/Switch works in exactly the same way as it did with the Legacy FastPass system. Do I get given a time, or can I choose? When you choose your FP+ selections, the system returns 4 available time options – usually morning, afternoon, evening, and all day. To start, choose one of these options, and it will bring back some times for your reservations. Once you have made your FastPass+ reservations and they are added to your My Disney Experience account, you can then go into each reservation and change the time if available. Can I still use Legacy FastPass? No – Legacy FastPass has now been completely removed from all Walt Disney World theme parks, so FP+ is now the only option if you wish to use the free FastPass service. Legacy FP stations have been removed, and some may have been replaced with FP+ kiosks. |
