MyMagic+ Frequently Asked Questions
FastPass+ and MyMagic+ is the new system that is operating within the Walt Disney World Resort. Here is a quick FAQ with regards to this new next generation system. Please be aware that all information provided below is subject to change, although Disney Magic will try to keep this page as up-to-date as possible. It is very important for park guests to know about the MyMagic+ and FastPass+ system in order to get the full Disney World experience! If you notice any mistakes, or would like to contact us, please use Facebook or Twitter!
What is the Disney MagicBand? It is just like a normal RFID enabled part-ticket. The MagicBand, which is a bracelet, contains long-range RFID, as well as the short-range RFID found in the standard park admission tickets. The MagicBand is worn on a guests wrist and acts as park admission, along with PhotoPass and FastPass. On-site guests also have the option to use their MagicBand to pay for items in the parks, but also allows entry to hotel rooms and to get resort guest benefits.
Is the MagicBand waterproof? Yes – The MagicBand is now completely waterproof. It can be worn in the shower (but why would you want to!?!), in swimming pools and water parks. What can MagicBands be used for? MagicBands can be used by on-site guests to; enter their hotel room, buy food and merchandise and enter the theme parks. They also provide an easy access to FP+ and PhotoPass (Incl. Memory Maker). Offsite guests can use the bands for park entry, FP+ and PhotoPass, but cannot, as of yet, pay using their MagicBands. Can I customise MagicBands? Guests can pick from a range of different colours – including; red, blue, green, yellow, pink, orange, grey and purple. MagicBands can be further customised using purchasable magic-sliders, bandits and other decorative items. Customisation does not affect the use of the system, but adds to the aesthetics of the band. Printed MagicBand's are now available for purchase, and designs range from limited-time event bands (such as MNSSHP, MVMCP and EF&WF) to character bands (including characters from Frozen, Star Wars, Disney Princesses & many more!). Do I need a MagicBand? No - not necessarily! Although they do make life a lot easier! Guests staying onsite will receive a free coloured MagicBand, and offsite guests can purchase a standard band for $12.95+tax. The alternative to a MagicBand is an RFID enabled card (similar to a credit card). These are fine for standard use, although long-range customization in rides and attractions, and Memory Maker, will not work with the RFID card, which only contains short range RFID. |
