Disney World is pulling one of its recent additions to merchandising from sale. The mug is part of Starbucks new collection. As you can see below, the Epcot mug is purple coloured, and includes a monorail with purple stripe. The purple monorail is no longer in operation after a fatal crash back in 2009, which killed Austin Wuennenberg - the driver of the purple monorail at the time. The Frozen themed offerings, Wandering Oakens Trading Post and Frozen Snowground have now closed for second time at Disney's Hollywood Studios. They were originally part of Frozen Summer Fun, but were extended and moved to the old AFI Showcase building. The closure does suggest though that construction may begin soon for the DHS makeover. Yesterday was the final day of operation for this attraction.
A new concept drawing has recently surfaced for an expansion to the Harambe area of Animal Kingdom. The new area, to be known as Africa Marketplace will open in Spring 2015. The new area will provide new merchandising and dining locations, along with a new walkway between the Africa and Asia lands of the park. The new dining location will be called "Harambe Marketplace" and will feature a number of small window restaurants serving African dishes. This construction has been happening for the past year in backstage areas of the park.
Disney is soon going to be expanding its range of 'Glow with the Show' style products. The whole system will be renamed 'Made With Magic' and will still feature the Mickey Ears. There will now be 3 other options rather than the standard Mickey Ears. There will be Minnie Ears Headband, Mickey Glove and a Wand. The new products will use the same technology as the hats, and will still be used in the current participating Disney World and Disneyland shows and attractions. All 'Made with Magic' products will be sold for $25.
Disney has today announced the upcoming release of three new Magic Bands. There are two that are limited edition, and one that is open edition. See below for an overview of the bands: 1) Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party MagicBand: This is limited to MVMCP ticket holders only, It will be released on 7th November 2014. This MagicBand is expected to have special lighting and sounds when touched against the Mickey touch-points. 2) Open Edition Christmas MagicBand: This will not be limited release - so will be available to all guests. It can be bought at all parks and other locations from 31st October 2014! 3) Olaf Winter MagicBand: This will be a DHS only MagicBand, and will be a limited release. This MagicBand will be available at Hollywood Studios from 3rd November. Now that the Frozen Summer Fun event has officially finished, the Wandering Oakens Trading Post has now moved to a new location - the old AFI Showcase building.
